The main concept of Solar Lights is to place the solar landscape lights in full sun for charging, and receive light at night. Generally, solar lights need a minimum of 6 to 8 hours of full sun to maximize the number of hours your outdoor solar lights will provide light at night.

If placed in partial sun or shade, charging of the solar panel by the sun may not be optimized, and you may not be pleased with the amount and time of light emission at night. If you follow this basic rule, maintaining solar landscape lights is incredibly easy!

Follow these maintenance instructions for the life of your outdoor solar lights:

1. Wipe off the top, or solar panel area, with a damp cloth periodically to remove dust and grime. Do not use any harsh cleaning chemicals. Avoid putting pressure on the solar panel.

2. Remove any leaves that fall and block the sun from the solar panel.

3. Replace the Ni-Cd or Ni-MH Rechargeable Battery when your solar lights are no longer providing the brightness or length of lighting hours you desire, every two years or so.

That’s it! The LED light lasts for 25-30 years, so you might want to mark your calendar to replace your outdoor solar lights around the year 2035.

Lots of bang for the buck, isn’t it! Another great reason to install solar landscape lights rather than expensive electric fixtures!

Are you still working on your New Year’s Resolutions like I am? It’s hard to come up with promises to yourself that you know you are not going to ignore or break.

One New Year’s Resolution that should be made and easy to keep is to stop paying for those electric outdoor lights every month. Go Green starting in 2010 and switch to Solar Landscape Lights.

With Solar Lights, no electric or wiring is needed, which most importantly means no electric bill to be paid every single month. When you tell yourself that your electric outdoor lights are already paid for so why spend money buying solar landscape lights, also remind yourself that Electric Lights Are Never Completely Paid For! Every single day you are paying for the electric to light your “already paid for” outdoor lights.

It truly is a pleasure to look at the soft glow of solar landscape lights knowing that the sun took care of turning on the lights rather than my pocketbook. Even now, I still smile when I see my solar lights come on at dusk.

Give Solar Landscape Lights a chance to put a smile on your face. Prices for solar lights start at less than $20 for a set. That’s less than you pay in a month for electric lights, depending on the quantity you have. With basically no maintenance and LED bulbs that last 100,000 hours, your only expense will be replacing the rechargeable batteries every two years or so. Think you can keep switching on your electric lights for about a $30 cost over two years?

Solar lights will be a great New Year’s Resolution. Easy to buy, easy to install, and easy on the pocketbook from now on.

Go Green! Save money today buying Solar Landscape Lights, Indoor Solar Lights and Solar Garden Decor at www.NaturesSolarLights.com.

Welcome to the website. You’ll find a ton of high quality suppliers for all types of solar yard lights in dozens of varieties you need to make your landscape perfect. With such a diversity of choices, solar yard lights, designed to efficiently use sunlight, will provide all areas of your walkways and decking with light into the night. And no worry about power outages because these lights are self-powered, perfect for a blackout.

One of the biggest advantages of solar yard lights is that they come on at dusk and turn off at dawn. You never need to adjust them to the time of night. Rest assured that your yard will be illuminated at night, even if you’re away on vacation. Most solar lights are made the same: NiCad batteries in a weather resistant casing with a solar cell, circuitry and LED’s as lights. And you’ll find units that have the solar cell separate from the light as well.

Solar Powered Garden Lights: A favorite among gardeners, these come in sets of 10 and are designed to help illuminate any area that needs that extra touch of safety. Used around driveways and sidewalks, they also make excellent lights for swimming pool perimeters or garden steps. The black cover is ideal to withstand the weather and UV rays and is long lasting. Very easy to install and maintain, you can find these in smaller sizes as well. Rechargeable batteries can be purchased online or locally and are standard size.

Solar Landscape Lights: Designed for two reasons, to add curb appeal to your home and to illuminate dark areas for safety reasons, solar landscape lights have a blueish LED which makes them very attractive. These will add life to your yard at night and are low maintenance. Many people change the rechargeable batteries for a higher quality brand for longer lasting lighting. The price is hard to beat as manufacturers have improved quality over the years. You’l find solar landscape lights are easy to move around as well.

Solar Christmas Lights: Energy free LED Christmas lights come in a variety of colors, perfect to put around your windows and door this season. Using the sun’s energy, they turn themselves on exactly when the sun goes down and off when the sun comes up. These bright LED’s lasting 10, 000 hours are perfect solar yard lights for Christmas decorating and many units will flash or twinkle and run the entire season without any problems. Forget about looking for an electrical outlet, place these light wherever you want them and let them bring in the season.

Solar Patio Lights: Perfect for social gatherings around your home, solar patio lights are a reliable and economical way of illuminating your home. Attractive and effective, these lights will guide guests and provide a warm, inviting atmosphere. What makes these lights so special is that they accentuate the immediate area and don’t disturb neighbors. And solar patio lights are energy free meaning they cost nothing to run. Your friends will be impressed with the high tech lights that show you are going green.

Is it a gimmick, or something that will work well for you this Christmas season? Initially, when solar lights hit the market, many companies had very cheap products mass produced and sold making people believe that most solar lighting is cheaply put together, or junk. But the industry has matured and solar Christmas lights are now something that you will enjoy for many years. And one great feature makes them a best seller each year.

Since the string of lights, actually LED’s, are solar powered, there is no outlet needed which means you can string them up anywhere, far away from an outlet. And solar Christmas lights use no power so you won’t have to worry about them loading your utility bill when your spirits should be bright. Many people place these on mailboxes or lampposts, and really there is no end to what you can decorate with them.

Problems encountered with the cheaper lights are the batteries not receiving a full charge throughout the day when compared to other solar landscape lighting. This is typically because the solar cell is inferior. Look for at least a 3 watt solar cell to power one string of lights. The problem is generally not with the batteries. However, you can upgrade most low-end units to a higher quality, higher capacity battery. Try to stay away from sealed batteries (you can see on the case) as you won’t be able to replace these when they are expended.

One of the best uses of solar Christmas lights is on a camping trip. Most campsites are pretty dark and a couple of strings of these lights will liven up the whole atmosphere and even have others stopping by your campsite asking where you got them. And because you’re dealing with LED’s, chances are these bulbs will last a lifetime. In fact, the strings we have seen work even when one bulb goes out or breaks. If the string is left in the elements for the entire year, you will probably see some UV damage to the wire that runs between the lights. This is expected. The best colors for outside wear and tear and the darker colors. Clear will eventually breakdown in the sunlight.

Have fun with the family in choosing your solar Christmas lights and then planning where you will put them this season. And when you’re done, remember there are many uses for stringed solar lights, including lighting up the back porch area or garden areas. There are dozens of landscaping ideas. At the beginning of next Christmas season, simply buy another string, or move the string in the garden back to the door, mailbox, or wherever you choose.

Since the solar Christmas lights are totally contained, there is no on or off meaning they are designed to come on at dusk and will run until the battery is exhausted, or daylight arrives. Under perfect conditions, it will take direct sun most of the day to fully charge your Ni-Cad battery. Most units will flash or remain on solid. Shop for the best value today.

The major consideration in solar landscape lights is to find where low cost and self sufficient meet. The problem in the past with these lights is that many companies tried to cash in on the new technology and a flood of cheap plastic, under-powered solar cells with small LED lights hit the market making many think that solar landscape lights weren’t ready for prime time. But there are manufacturers that use high quality materials that last under adverse weather and perform well for a long time. How can you find these few?

Whether you are accenting a driveway, lighting a pathway, or simply making your home come alive with nighttime lighting, solar landscape lights made from quality components offer the longevity and reliability you need. It pays to shop around because there is still a lot of inferior product on the market. Look for high output LED’s. Technology has arrived to the point that we are now able to get up to 83% of light from energy spent with LED’s. That makes for long-lasting light at high output. Remember, solar landscape lights are free energy from the sun. And you should look for units where you can replace the rechargeable batteries. There are a few indications that you can.

For landscape designers knowing the difficulty in running underground wire for intricate lighting designs, solar power comes in as a life saver. Imagine low to no maintenance lights that blend into the landscape and come on automatically, then go off automatically. It really pays to invest in quality lights for a worry-free installation. Most units will have written on them that you can change the rechargeable batteries, typically AA’s. But make sure you buy a high quality solar cell as well.

Higher quality solar landscape lights employ Siemens Mono-Crystalline solar panels. Mounted directly on top of the units, these high output cells recharge the Ni-Cad batteries quickly and efficiently, and last for years. Another consideration, especially in the northern parts, is the plastic casing. All quality lights are fully weatherproof not just from rain and sun, but cold winter nights as well. A few manufacturers incorporate stainless steel as well into their designs.

Look for solar cells that put out at least 3 watts. The better units will have ultra-bright LED lights that display at least 12,000 mcd. And make sure the unit you choose comes with high capacity Ni-Cad batteries. Most websites that sell these units will have all the specs listed so you can compare. You can also see the size and style of lights and think of how they would fit into your landscape. There are several styles which work great with wood decks and others that look wonderful amongst the plants.

Remember that these solar landscape lights will need to get at least 8 hours of daylight to charge the batteries, even though in full sun they will charge much faster. Consider where you are placing the lights as full, overhead sun is best, and many will not work well if constantly in the shade, or if they are only receiving early morning or late afternoon light. You can always change out the Ni-Cad cells for higher powered ones, but remember that they will take more light and longer time to recharge.
